Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Pilot Project

Summary

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (AV) plans to develop an autonomous vehicle (AV) Pilot Test Track to determine which AV shuttles will be appropriate for the Ultimate Urban Circulator (U²C) Project in the Jacksonville urban core. Multiple vehicles from the AV shuttle industry are expected to be tested and evaluated on the AV Pilot Test Track to and develop specifications for the U²C project. The AV Pilot Test Track will have the added benefit of allowing the public to gain familiarity with and receive transportation service from AV technology while allowing JTA to evaluate different AV types in a controlled environment. JTA is seeking proposals from well-qualified and experienced parties to provide: • Information and plans about AV shuttles that are appropriate for the U2C project • Services to support those shuttles for testing on the AV Pilot Test Track • AV shuttle leasing procedures and options to purchase
